Cure Your Acne the Natural Way

When you think about acne, you probably think that it is a condition that only afflicts teenagers. But this is not true. Anyone can develop acne at any age. Acne will occur when pores beneath the skin become clogged. Oil that is normally excreted through the skin will build up under the skin and stimulate the growth of bacteria. Once the bacteria starts to grow, the pores of the skin will become inflamed and red, causing pimples, pustules, blackheads and sometimes even cysts. So if you are having a problem with acne, keep reading to uncover a few all natural cures for your acne problem.

Tea tree oil has been used for some time as a natural cure for acne. This oil is extracted from the leaves of the Australian Melaleuca Alternafolia tree. Tea tree oil has very powerful anti-bacterial properties. So, since acne is caused by a bacteria, rubbing a little tea tree oil onto the affected areas could make your acne disappear.

Strawberry leaves can be used as a natural treatment for acne. Try making a poultice out of strawberry leaves by wetting them and placing them on the face over any patches of acne. This technique has been used since Egyptian times to achieve a clear complexion.

Another treatment for acne that has been shown to be very effective is orange peels. All you need to do is to grind up orange peels and add a small amount of water to make a paste. Apply this paste to any areas of acne. Just think, you can eat the orange for a good shot of vitamin C to help boost your immune system and recycle the orange peels for a natural acne cure!

Make your own natural face mask by cracking some eggs and removing the yolks. Beat the remaining egg whites for a few minutes. Now apply this to your face. Leave it on for about fifteen minutes and then wash off the egg yolk mask. The egg whites are very effective at removing the excess oil from your face. Egg whites are also great at healing and rebuilding healthy skin cells.

A good, natural exfoliate for your skin is baking soda. It can be found in almost every home and is very inexpensive to buy. Just mix some with a little bit of water to create a paste. Massage this past into your skin for about 10 to 15 seconds then wash off. This all natural exfoliate will remove dead skin cells and any oil buildup that can clog the pores and form pimples.

So if you suffer from acne, try some of these all natural acne remedies. There is no need to spend a lot of money on over the counter remedies or medication if you can find a natural cure that works for you.

Acne Treatment - The Real Secret To Quickly Heal Your Acne

Acne is an all too common skin condition, and in some cases the chemicals used to treat it can further damage the skin. Here are some tips that will help you heal your acne:

No scrubbing or rubbing.

You can't scrub your acne away. In fact abrasive or frequent washing can lead to dry skin and irritated acne. Your skin will respond best to kind attention. Gently wash your face no more than twice a day with a mild cleanser and pat your skin dry with a clean towel. If you exercise hard and sweat a lot you may want to wash your face afterwards.

Don't pop pimples.

Don't pop or squeeze pimples, as it could lead to inflammation and infection. It could also push the infected materials deep into the skin and create more swelling. Squeezing or popping pimples could lead to permanent scars on the face.

Breathe deeply.

It is advisable to breathe deeply when you feel stressed. Doctors have found out that there is a direct link between stress and acne. Studies have shown that there is increased amount of androgen production when a person is under stress. Not only mental but physical stress such as allergies, surgery etc could activate the androgen production. When androgen is activated the sebaceous glands pumps out more oil/sebum leading to acne.

Use honey.

Apply a honey mask once a week. Honey is regarded as a disinfectant and also it has medicinal properties believed to heal minor blemishes. It has the properties of destroying the bacteria present in the skin.

Pay kind attention to your skin.

Use a mild cleanser no more than twice a day and gently wash and dry your skin. Apply a noncomedogenic (won't clog your pores) sunscreen.

Patience is a virtue.

Be patient. Healing takes time. Unfortunately this doesn't happen overnight. Results are generally seen in a few weeks, but may take up to 8 weeks or more. Don't be tempted by over night promises. So give your acne treatment a fighting chance.

Use sunscreen.

Many acne medications contain ingredients that can make your skin extra sensitive to sunlight and ultraviolet light from tanning booths. Read the label warnings, avoid tanning booths, and always use a sunscreen with at least an SPF of 15. Sun exposure can actually irritate acne even if you are not using an acne medication. So don't make sunbathing a part of your lifestyle and always use sunscreen.

More is not better.

If you use more acne medication than directed by your doctor you can actually worsen your acne. Many over-the-counter acne treatments contain active ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Too much of either of these can cause your skin to become excessively dry or irritated. It can take time for your skin to adapt to new medications. Remember that it may take up to 8 weeks for any acne medication to have a noticeable effect. Use the medication exactly as directed by your doctor and if you don't see an improvement within 8 weeks talk with your dermatologist.

Use only noncomedogenic products.

When purchasing cosmetics, sunscreen or other skin care products, make sure the label reads noncomedogenic. These products, as well as those labeled nonacnegenic, won't clog your pores and therefore won't cause or make your acne worse.

Here's the rub.

Headbands and hats can aggravate your acne as they rub against your forehead. Try to avoid these things when possible.

Don't touch your face.

It's amazing how often we touch our faces during an average day. Our hands have oil on them and of course bacteria too, both of which can make acne worse. So avoid touching your face or leaning your chin on your hand. Be sure that other objects that come in contact with your face like cell phones, telephone receivers, eye glasses, etc are clean.

Wash your face.

It is advisable to wash your face at least twice a day with sulfur-based soap. Once when you wake up and again when you go to bed. Do not scrub; just give it a smooth touch. Washing your skin over and over again will create more trouble than help you.

Cut your hair.

If you have long hair it is advisable to cut it short. Your hair contains oil and when you move, the dust particles do mix up with your hair and when your hair bangs on your face or neck or forehead or the affected area, the situation could worsen. Also wash your hair on a daily basis.

Eat fruits and vegetables.

Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables daily.

Drink lots of water.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. Water helps in cleaning and hydrating the skin and maintaining overall health.

Change your pillowcase.

Wash or change your pillowcase every day.

Exercise.

Exercise moderately as it helps in blood circulation and helps eliminate toxins.

Review your environment.

Pollution, airborne grease (such as in a fast food restaurant), irritating clothing - all these can aggravate your acne. It isn't always possible to avoid all the various irritants that may contribute to your acne. You can, however, make educated decisions that may help to minimize their impact. Loosen tight, irritating clothing or find fabrics that breathe better and don't aggravate your acne.

Acne Medication - Does Acne Skin Care Products Work?

Acne is a common inflammatory skin disease that involves pimples, primarily on face. Acne specifically occurs in teenagers and young adults sometimes causing them embarrassment, even psychological stress as well. Poor diet, stressful life, and hormonal changes are a few reasons for acne breakout. Also, incorrect use of beauty products or using poor quality acne skin care products can aggravate acne.

You can try using some natural or home remedies for mild acne, if it is initial stage and you see an occasional whitehead or a blackhead. However, if your acne is moderate, you should see a dermatologist and seek proper acne medication, before it gets severe. A doctor generally refers a few acne creams, and guides you on using acne skin care products. A variety of acne products are available at medical stores. Some of these are good to cure acne, and while others help you prevent acne.

There are many OTC medicines that people take for acne. This may be a good option for initial stage but if your acne is getting worse, seek proper acne medication. The dermatologist examines the symptoms and gives you prescribed medicine for effective treatment and cure. Apart from treatment, you should change your diet plan and avoid foods that can cause acne or that slow the recovery process.

Most often, the acne products contain benzoyl peroxide and some antibiotics. These help the affected area to dry out, and take care of acne scar as well. Many acne creams and lotions that you use for treatment contain vitamin A. However, you may feel some irritation or itching on your skin when you begin the treatment. Use a good quality skin moisturizer for in such cases. In case of severe acne, you may also require to take oral acne medication. Many prescribed medicines eliminate the reasons that can cause acne. Generally, these help you fighting against the bacterial infection that leads to acne.

Sometimes, a medicine has its side effects as well. Discuss with your doctor, if you notice any rashes on skin, or some stomach problem, and seek any alternative medicine, or some medicine to counter the side effects of acne medication. Research has shown that a few acne medicines may cause malformation of the teeth; and a few others can cause changes in the color of the skin. Your skin may get dark, or lighter than its normal color.

A few other common side effects are as below.

• Your hair may lose their natural color, and may turn white.

• You may notice skin allergy.

• There may be blisters or some swelling over affected areas on skin.

• In some cases, you may also see burning or redness of skin.

Some doctors recommend that you should not take calcium supplements, or any laxatives while you are taking acne medications. Select your acne skin care products carefully, and if possible, use only those products that are prescribed or recommended by your doctor.

Washing your face is the most important factor that contributes to early recovery. Wash your face to revoke any oils or dirt from your face and do not apply any make up or cream while going to bed. It enables your skin to breathe which is very important for a healthy and fresh skin. Do not touch, prick or pierce your pimples as it may leave permanent scars on the skin. Let them heal naturally or though acne medications, and the scars will automatically disappear over a period of time.

Sometimes, a few medicines are not recommended for special cases such as for a pregnant women and patients of Hansen's disease. Also, the patients of asthma, hay fever or those who have a weak liver are also advised against using some particular acne products. In such situations, discuss all the symptoms with your dermatologist, along with any medication that you are already taking. You may require some different acne creams or medication in such cases.

While purchasing acne products, read the instructions carefully. See the manufacturing and expiry dates of products, and read how to use those. There may be instructions that require that you should not expose your skin to sunlight after applying a specific acne cream. Following the instructions properly will help quick acne treatment and cure.

Apart from traditional acne medications, you can control acne using herbal products as well. The advantage with using herbal products is that these do not cause any side effects, though sometimes, the recovery process is slow. Even if you are taking traditional medicines, you can take herbal and natural treatment for acne, simultaneously. However, consult with your doctor before using a herbal product since it may hinder the effectiveness of prescribed medicines. Also, take required precautions in your diet and lead a positive and stress free life style.

How To Buy Acne Products

At some stage in our lives we will all end up getting zits, unfortunately some people will get more than others. Certainly, there are many things which will cause a person to suffer from acne and when this occurs they need to start looking to buy acne product which will effectively treat the condition.
In this article we will take a look at which acne products that work and those which you should avoid at all costs. Before you buy any acne product treatment, you need to take a number of things into consideration.

1. Know what type of skin you have

If you skin is quite oily then it would be best to use an acne product which is gel based and for those who have dry skin, you should then use a cream. However if unfortunately like many others you have combination skin then choose the product which is best suited to treating the areas that are afflicted with the acne.

2. Skin Sensitivity

You need to consider just how sensitive your skin is as the more sensitive it is then you will need to use an acne product which does not have as much of the active ingredient in it. In fact, by using too strong a product, it is only going to make the problem worse rather than actually helping to treat it. Generally the skin will react to the treatment by producing more oil and so causing more eruptions of acne to occur.

But it is important to note that some of the products available for sensitive skin are only used as a preventative measure and ideal if you feel the affects of acne starting. You should not be using strong acne medication as these will be too harsh for the skin and can cause the situation to be exacerbated rather than alleviate the problem.

Now that you have taken into consideration the above two factors when looking to buy acne product for treating your condition you will be more aware of what is likely to help treat rather than make the situation worse.

Plus it is advisable then when you are buying any over the counter acne product, you discuss the matter with the pharmacist first, generally they will have a much better understanding of what product is likely to be more effective for your skin and which will not. Another great place to find out everything you need to know about the various different acne products available for treating this skin condition is on the web. There are lots of sites set up providing you with details on the various traditional and natural acne products you can buy today and will explain best which ones work well for various skin types.

How I Treated My Acne

I am not what you would call a skin care expert. But I do have some successful experience with treating acne. A few years ago I was getting ready for my graduation pictures. That's a lot of work! You can't just go out there and get your pictures snapped. I had to do neck exercise to muscle up my neck a little and I had to do a little chest work so that I had a nice chest. And of course I had to clean up my face and remove all the acne.

I researched the subject like I usually do whenever I want to learn something important and then I came up with my own acne destroying routine and it worked!

I started every day with a Zinc supplement and a fish oil capsule. One word here, the fish oil really works. I have told a friend about it and he said that he would rather just deal with the acne. But these fish oil capsules are swallowed like most pills and so there is very little taste! So it's not that bad. I guess you can even take a fish oil in liquid (oil) form. And then you do get a strong taste, but not with the capsules.

I also started every day with a facial cleansing soap. Regular soap can work in a pinch but I really advise the facial cleansing soap. There are kinds sold for treating acne or you can even use one of the ones used for removing makeup.

Then depending on how bad the acne was and also on what I had to do next I would either use a acne pad or an acne cream. I like the cream when I have a spot that is very broke out. But the creams (even the so called invisible ones) can leave a residue. I didn't put it on to thick. But I liked it thick enough that is was visible.

So if you are just general broke out all over but not too bad in anyone place, or if you are in a hurry to go out in public and you don't want any visible cream then use a pad.

This should be repeated morning and night and if you can do it once or twice throughout the day then that's great, especially if you have just done something that has made you sweat. If you can't do a whole facial cleanse then it's at least advisable to use an acne cleansing pad a couple times throughout the day.

Zinc is usually only taken once a day, but you should have a couple more fish oil's during the day. I liked one at breakfast, one at lunch and one before I went to bed. So that's what worked for me. In one day I did/had One Zinc, three fish oils, a couple facial cleansings, and at least four acne cleansing pads.

You should start with just one pad a day and then if you aren't experiencing excess dryness then you can increase pads one at a time. I didn't usually have any trouble with four pads a day, but some people would burn their faces up with that many! So increase treatment slowly.

As far as what brand to use, I have used several brands both name brand and generic. I have found that most brands work but I had the most success when I changed brands every few weeks. I don't know why but it's almost like the acne seemed to adapt to the treatment. So whenever I used up one container of pads (or even before then) I would then use a different brand. You can always cycle back to the old brand.

You should also wash your face with cold water instead of hot, even when in the shower. I would take a hot shower and then turn the water down to wash my face. This is easier on the skin. I didn't usually have any trouble with the pads. And I have found that many of the creams work best when put on thick enough to leave a visible coat (most directions advise using less).

But over the course of several years of treatments I did maybe three of four times, burn red marks on my face. It was nothing serious, it's like sunburn. Unfortunately unlike most sunburn it's often a very uneven mark. I don't usually use cream on my whole face, just one spot. So when you are getting ready to leave for California the next day and your forehead is 75% covered in a red mark it's no fun.

But I have some sunburn ointment with Aloe Vera in it. And when you put this on the burn it's usually all cleared up and looks fine in a matter of hours, sometimes less.

You should be careful about how much cream you apply. Start with a small amount and work your way up. And if your skin is getting dried out then reduce treatments (stay on the Zinc and fish oil). But just in case you get little over zealous with the stuff then keep some sunburn lotion with Aloe Vera around. If you can't find that then look for something with a lot of Aloe Vera in it. Or even an Aloe Vera plant, this is a wonder plant and you should always have some on hand for burns etc...
